Week 12 Assignments

Your assignment for Week 12 is composed of THREE parts. First, you will select a topic for the presentation. You must choose a topic you can research, explain, and educate someone about in 15-20 slides. You MUST have the topic approved before proceeding to Assignment 2. Second, you will use the Internet to research a topic you have selected. This research document must be submitted AND approved before proceeding to the third step. The third and final part of your assignment will be creating a PowerPoint presentation of your search results (Assignment 2). This will be your final exam in PPT and will be worth a maximum of 100 points.

Assignment 1
Select a topic which is of interest to you that you would like to research. Some suggestions for topics are:

Using Online Searches to Get a Job
Career Paths (You select the specific area.)
E-Business Career Alternative
Pending Litigation in Information Technology (Narrow to a specific topic.)
Distance Learning on the Internet—Advantages/Disadvantages (Pick one.)
Business-to-Business Online Markets
Financial Statement Fraud and Information Technology
Preventing E-commerce Fraud
A hobby of yours
A favorite place of interest
History of a place or topic
Your favorite campsites
The Most Magnificent Beaches in the U.S.
Vacationing in … (Pick a place.)

You may choose any of the above topics or select one specifically of interest to you. Send your instructor the topic FIRST! Your instructor will help you narrow the topic if it is too broad. Please make sure you get your topic approved QUICKLY, so you have time to do the research! Second, perform a search of the subject area and narrow down your search to no more than 10 good reference sources.
Finally, create a Word document with the following information:

Your Name
Research Topic

Write a short paragraph summarizing the findings of your research. At this point, a detailed analysis is not required—just a one paragraph summary. Place the list of the URLs below the summary.

Save the file as YourNameInternetSearch. Upload the file to your instructor for review. This must be done early in the week as you must get approval of your topic BEFORE proceeding to the next part of your assignment, i.e. Assignment 2.

Assignment 2

PowerPoint Project
Create a PowerPoint presentation of approximately 15-20 slides, using a Design Template of your choice. The presentation will summarize and emphasize what you consider important about the topic you researched.

Include at least three bulleted slides. The bulleted points you mention may include what you have learned and whatever else you think is important. You may include URLs within the bulleted lists.

Be sure to apply Transitions to any or all slides in your presentation. You should also include at least four (4) examples of Pictures in your Slide Show. You can use the Pictures that are available in PowerPoint or Online Pictures. You can also find sources for images on a Website.

Remember, if you take information from a Website, though, you must give credit to the author of that Web page. You may do that through the use of a footer on the page. Also, remember to place a list of references at the end of your presentation. One slide at the end labeled References with a list of links is fine.
